Twenty
Questions With
Melle...
Who are
you?
I'm just a small town country girl with big dreams and
designer jeans.
What
makes you laugh? Billy Connolly ...and
politicians.
What
makes you cry? Cruelty to animals and running
out of coffee.
What
do you love to do? I love to read. I devour
books. From Harry Potter to biographies to camera
manuals, I'll read it! And when I'm not reading a
book you can find me curled up under my doona,
snoozing...you can never have enough sleep! I also
love roller blading and singing...although neither of
these I am good at.
What
are you reading right now? I am just about to embark on my very
first "Lord of the Rings" adventure. I'm starting with
The Hobbit.
Most
embarrassing moment? When my (then) five year old son, said
to my parent's neighbour as she was sipping a glass of wine "so
(name), I'm presuming you're an alcoholic". It was one of
those earth-please-open-up-and-swallow-me
moments.
What
do you dream about? I have several recuring dreams,
some fantastic, some disturbing. I have the most
vivid, amazing dreams about all different kinds of
things. Every
night.
A little
secret about yourself: I'm not really a natural blonde
anymore... ;-)
Dogs
or Cats? I
am a cat person. I am afraid of any animal that is too
big to step on. :-)
Any
pets? I
have three adorable little male rats: Basil, Peppa and
Toby. They are all from the same litter. Toby was
the "runt" of the litter and has only three legs. He's
kinda special. I love them! They have each got very
distinct personalities and are just so much
fun.
Tattoos? One. A birthday present to myself
on my 21st birthday.
Favourite movie
ever?
That's a hard one! So many to choose from. But, if
I had to choose, I would choose an oldie. Definitely
"Dead Poet's Society" starring Robin Williams. That man
is a genius.
Favourite kid's
movie? I
adore "The Polar Express". It's just so magical and we
all need a little magic in our
lives.
Favourite
quote? "Do
or do not. There is no try" -
Yoda
Your
hero? JK
Rowling. The woman is amazing.
Sigh...
What
scares you? Apart from spiders and big dogs and bad
hair days?
Your
best feature? My sense of
humour.
Your
worst feature? I am a perfectionist and I push myself
way to hard.
How did you
get into photography? My love of photography stems
back to high school days, where I longed for a camera
that made a whirring noise when I depressed the shutter
button. Seriously! I studied photography
in art class in high school and then in my 20's, I
studied it at a diploma level. Now, I live and
breathe it. And I continue to learn and grow.
Like a musician or any other artist, a good photographer
should never stop learning or experimenting with new
styles..
What
is your favourite thing to
photograph? The human form. Nothing is
more expressive or conveys emotion like
it.
